10 ways to expand PLAY with our Snowmen Bowling game

*edited to fix link problem
Did you see my post on making a snowmen bowling game? If you missed it you can check it out HERE. The past couple of days the girls have been inventing their own play ideas with them so I thought I'd share their ideas.
1) For bowling of course
2) As a math game by writing numerals on the bottom or front of the snowmen and have children match the correct number of snowballs (mini pom poms from dollar store)
3) Line them up and count them. If all 15 have numerals you could practice skip counting too
4) Build block houses and use the snowmen as the charcters
5) Have a scavenger hunt and hide them around the house so your children can find them
6) Put them in the sink with some snow and ice cubes
7) Allow the children to fill and pour at the same time or do this if you don't have snow
8) Colour the tops of the snowmen different colours and use them as a matching game with colour coordinated pom poms.
9) Just have fun stacking them in crazy forms, shapes, tall as possible
10) Fill with a few beans and secure a mini muffin liner to the top with an elastic for an instant musical instrument
Then have a fun dance party.

All these ideas are simple, and very frugal...you just need a few pom poms from the dollar store which you already may have on hand.

If you try any of them I'd love to hear which ones your children enjoyed.

Looking for some other snowmen ideas? Check out these great collections by clicking on the photos below. The first one contains my original post from making the snowmen bowling games from a couple years ago (#10).

I missed posting my Project 365.12 which was the first cardinal I've seen here in Wasaga since we moved here.

and for today it's a pair of skates I bought at the thrift store. Another winter activity we have yet to try. I haven't skated since I was knee high to a grass hopper so it should be kind of comical.

More Littlest Petshops edited with the Rhonna Designs App

The weather hasn't been cooperating as much for nice outdoor photos lately but I've been having fun playing with my new Rhonna Designs App...so in love with it. I never (well rarely) buy Apps but this $1.99 was an investment! I need to buy an iTunes card so I can but the five extra packs that are available for .99 cents each. There is alot of content with the original $1.99 purchase but I love it so much I can barely wait to buy the extra packs.

Aren't the edits just so fun? To see other photos I've created with the Rhonna Designs App check out my Instagram (my name there is siayla if you are on your phone) to see others and more being added regularly.

The Rhonna Designs App is so beautiful and very easy to use. Click on the badge below and it will take you to iTunes if you want to read more about it. Or you can read a review of it HERE  or another one HERE . If you like playing with phone photography then I highly recommend this app. When your photos are complete you have the option of saving to your phone, printing them, email, add to contact, copy or share directly to Instagram.

This Project 365 entry contains 3 sweet little treats for my girls. I scored them off Kijiji plus 22 others today. Sierra has wanted LPS 91 forever (cream cocker spaniel) and the shorthair cats are her favourites.

Date night

Do you and your husband or wife or partner still go on date nights? My husband and I used to be in the habit of going on weekly date nights but we haven't been doing that for about a year. You know how it is with kids and responsibilities...we sometimes forget to take time for ourselves. I'm happy to say that today we did! I think it's very important for people to make time for each other amidst our busy lives and it's a habit I hope to get back into even if it's only once a month.

We went out for dinner at a local restaurant called Barcelos in Wasaga Beach. We have been talking about going for ages as it is very close to our house so it was good to finally go. It's Portuguese food and a bit pricey but heir food was great, the ambiance of the restaurant was wonderful and we enjoyed our dinner out very much.

We did a quick google search for pool halls in Collingwood and decided to give Mogul's a try.

Sorry about picture quality...dim lit bars don't exactly make for the best iPhone pictures.

We had the place to ourselves basically for the first hour and then people started to wander in around 8:30. I have played pool once or twice before but I am no better now than I was then.

We played for about 2 hours before moving on to try our hands at darts. Google kindly directed us to a place called Admiral's Post Pub. It was a nicer pub type bar for sure. The bartender  was really nice and easy to talk with. We told him we were fairly new to the area and he suggested some other places to try next time for both pool and darts.

We played 3 games which might only take some people a short period of time, it took us over an hour! If only you didn't need to double out!!!

I did however sore the best total of the night with a one hundred and E I G H T Y and won the best 2 out of 3; had to make up for being pretty much skunked at pool!
I'm still in shock over that but I did it...once anyway. It was the perfect photo for today's Project 365.

Sometimes thinking of things to do for date night can be hard so I found these links to have a look at for next time...maybe one of these will inspire you to have your own Date night soon! Just click on the picture and have a look...I've only had a quick look at them. Some ideas look fun and others aren't for us but I'm sure everyone can find an idea or two on them to try.

Snowman bowling with recyclables

We made this activity a couple years ago. You can see our original post HERE (the link explains how we made them). It's always so fun to look back and see how the girls have both grown.

Aayla only coloured one snowmen today but Sierra had a lot of fun designing the snowmen. Aayla did however enjoy stacking them and knocking them over and over and over again!
Sometimes you miss...and then you try again.

Knock em down and stack em up again and again and again.
Have fun trying new creative ways to knock them down.

Sierra gave it a few tries but at 7 1/2 years old I think she enjoyed the creative process of drawing the snowmen a lot more. The hand eye coordination and fine motor skills needed in this activity are perfect for Aayla.

I was super stoked that in the middle of December my original post was listed in a post called 17 {really fun} Snowmen Activities (we are #10 on the list) on the Kids Activity Blog . Click the link or the snowman picture below and go check out all 17 ideas!
